Kounde saga to finally end as Chelsea ‘strike £55m deal’ with medical this week
Jules Kounde’s continued saga with Chelsea appears to be over as the side have now reportedly stuck a seal with Sevilla.
The French defender has been on the Blues’ radar for seven months and now it looks as though he will be the third new recruit the side have through the door this week as the club looks to get the Todd Boehly in the best possible fashion.
The Sun report that the defender is finally on his way from the Spanish side and will undergo a medical in the next two days. It is even thought that Kounde has held conversations with Thomas Tuchel and hopes to link up with the club during their pre-season tour of the States.
The centre-back has agreed to personal terms with the Blues and a fee has been agreed. He will join Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling as the latest names through the door at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel first tried to bring in Kounde during the January transfer window but the asking fee meant that such discussions ended up breaking down, with Sevilla demanding the Premier League to meet the full amount of the release clause.
After which, Kounde picked up an injury while playing in the Nations League in June and do undergo some minor surgery. It was thought at the time that this would be putting the sale at risk, with the Blues even looking at different options, such as Manchester City’s Nathan Ake.

The same publication report that the deal is now "99 per cent done" and a move is almost certain. The club are in dire need of bolstering their backline, following the departures of centre-backs Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, who left on free moves the end of the season.
But it is believed, now with the arrival of Kounde and Koulibaly, Chelsea may look to get rid of some names from their defence.
