Klopp’s immediate reaction to incredible Alisson header that saved Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp praised Alisson’s “unbelievable” header as Liverpool kept their Champions League qualification hopes alive with a last-gasp win against West Brom.
The Baggies went ahead through Hal Robson-Kanu before Mohamed Salah levelled things up with an exquisite left-footed strike midway through the first-half.
But it was down to goalkeeper Alisson to spare Klopp’s blushes, with the Brazilian stopper leaping highest to head home from a corner in the last minute of injury time.
Liverpool’s number one couldn’t hide his emotions after the final whistle, and Klopp was full of praise for the 28-year-old in his post-match interview with Sky Sports.
Speaking at the culmination of a crazy afternoon at the Hawthorns, Klopp said: “That game is our season in a nutshell.
“A lot of good stuff, we got hammered for the first mistake and then had to work like crazy.
“But nobody got over the top, we had shots from Thiago and Gini and kept playing football and its really difficult against these sides, how they defend, how they set up, and in the end we needed Alisson to sort it!
“It's an unbelievable header, I've never seen anything like that, good technique. I wasn't sure what I was seeing.”
Turning his attention to match-winner Alisson, he said: “We are really close and know exactly what it means to him, it's outstanding, really touching.
“It's only football but it means the world to us. And now let's keep going. We have to a look at who can and can't go again and make sure we are ready for Burnley.
“Our last week of the season looks quite exciting.”
