Jurgen Klopp is now favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave his job in the wake of Liverpool’s dire 3-1 defeat to Leicester.

The German shot to the top of the list after he declared that the Reds’ title hopes were over following another calamitous second-half collapse that sees Liverpool on the verge of dropping out of the top four.

The Premier League champions are now 13 points behind leaders Manchester City, who in contrast have equalled a league record in securing nine straight wins since the turn of the year.

The latest defeat to the Foxes is yet another sign of a worrying trend for Liverpool, who have now lost three on the bounce.

Klopp’s men let in three goals in just seven minutes against Leicester, less than a week after they leaked four goals in 45 minutes against City. They have now lost four of their last six games, and taken a miserable nine points from a possible 30.

A markedly subdued Klopp said after the Leicester game: ‘Yes, I’m conceding. I don’t think we can close the gap to City.

‘At the moment it’s tough,’ he added. ‘But the only way out of the situation is to play good football, fight and work hard. That’s what we will do, we have to. We’ll get the results and see where we end up.’

An unexpected problem for Liverpool recently has been the disastrous form of goalkeeper Alisson, whose blunders against Man City and Leicester have highlighted their issues in defence.

Klopp said his team ‘have to avoid mistakes and misunderstandings’ after the comical collision between Alisson and new defender Ozan Kabak gifted Leicester their second goal.

Klopp is however not the only top-flight boss facing intense scrutiny over his position.

Not far behind Klopp, the bookies have Jose Mourinho as the second-favourite Premier League manager to leave his job next.

The Portuguese is 9/2 on to part ways with Tottenham after his side crumbled in a disappointing 3-0 defeat to City on Saturday evening.

The defeat sees Spurs fall 17 points behind the league leaders, and they have now lost five of their last six games in all competitions.
