Klopp criticised for furious response to question after Liverpool loss
Footage has emerged of Jurgen Klopp responding angrily to a question posed to him from an Israel-based network after his Liverpool side's 4-1 loss to Manchester City.
The Reds were defeated in their third home Premier League game in a row to all but end their slim chances of retaining the title.
Klopp has been in a bristly mood with reporters of late, with the likes of BT Sport's Des Kelly and Geoff Shreeves of Sky Sports getting into debates with the German.
And he has been criticised on social media for his reaction to a question from an interviewer from Sport 1 Pod after full-time at Anfield on Sunday.
Klopp was asked: "City have got a game in hand and the gap is ten point. Do you see any scenario where you could catch up with them or is the focus just fighting for the top four?"
He angrily responded: "I really think you should prepare for your job a little better. How can you ask that… they are 13 points away, in my understanding.
"And these questions about becoming champions… do you really think that's appropriate?
"You have only two questions and you waste one on that."
The reporter then attempts to ask something else, but Klopp interrupts by repeatedly saying: "You had only two questions, sorry," while smiling.
Finally, he responded to the question about fighting for the top four with a curt "yeah, that's obvious we will try to do that," before giving a bemused look.
There was a general negative reaction to the interview on social media.
One user posted on Twitter : "The reporter asks a reasonable question and is hammered by Klopp who also decides the gap is 13 points not 10. Even though it actually is 10 like the reporter said. Embarrassing."
Another added: "I've encountered difficult managers myself in the past but he takes it to a new level. It's beyond childish."
And one person tweeted: "I’ve never seen a manager act as such on a regular basis when things are not going their way. Would he have had the same reply last season? I think not."
Klopp's demeanour has certainly differed from last season, and it will be intriguing to see how he reacts if Liverpool's poor form continues.
Next up they face a tricky-looking away game at Leicester ahead of the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against RB Leipzig.
