Kieran Trippier has Newcastle fans excited after joining as a high-profile transfer from Atletico Madrid, but supporters have taken the opportunity to poke fun at him after bizarrely pointing to the clubs sleeve sponsor, online travel agency Kayak, rather than the club crest following his official unveiling.

The 31-year-old became Newcastle United’s first signing under their Saudi-backed owners in a £12million deal from Atletico Madrid.

Trippier agreed terms on a two-and-a-half-year deal with option of a further year, following two-and-a-half years in the Spanish capital with the LaLiga giants.

Fans were quick to notice the blunder after Newcastle posted a picture of their new  addition pointing at his sleeve rather than the Toon crest.

Lee Cruickshank wrote on Twitter: ‘That’s where the championship badge will be, next season.’

And user Janmpolsky said: ‘Hope he’s more accurate with his crosses!’

Fan Willftbl added: ‘Let’s hope he can pick out a man better than he can pick out the badge.’

Trippier spoke after he became Newcastle’s first signing under their Saudi-backed ownership

And Mark Jennings added: ‘He is hoping that kayak will quickly find him a cheap flight out of there in May!’
