Keane drank ’10 or 11 bottles of beer an hour’ – and lied Ferguson about antics
Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane claimed he and United players would drink “ten or eleven” bottles of beer an hour after football matches.
The Irishman appeared on former teammate and now Sky Sports News colleague Gary Neville’s Youtube series ‘The Overlap’.
While walking Keane's dog, They both reminisced and talked about their time at United.
When asked about the drinking sessions The Red Devil’s would all enjoy after matches, Keane highlighted they were boozy affairs.
“We were all doing it. Alex Ferguson would always pull me in and ask: ‘How many drinks would you have,” the Irishman said while impersonating the legendary United boss.
“Obviously I would lie to him and say: ‘Maybe ten of eleven bottles’.
“He would then explode and say “Ten or Eleven bottles? Aye you’re taking the mick”.
“If I told him the truth, it would have been that many every hour.”
Keane said United players used to go out for a few drinks after Saturday and Wednesday night matches.

However, his last three roles in the dug-out have come as an assistant manager to Martin O’Neil with Ireland and Nottingham Forest, with a stint as Paul Lambert’s No.2 at Aston Villa in between those spells.
