Keane "bang out of order" after Man Utd icon overstepped mark in forgotten spat
Roy Keane was branded “bang out of order” due to an old spat from back in the day with former Republic of Ireland teammate Kevin Kilbane.
The duo clashed back in 2016 during a dark time for the Emerald Isle on the pitch when the Manchester United legend was assistant manager.
Keane dug out the likes of Aiden McGeady and Daryl Murphy with some stinging criticism after a 2-1 loss to Belarus in Cork.
And Kilbane, who made 110 caps for Republic of Ireland during his career, hit back at the controversial coach – igniting a feud.
“For someone not in the know, they would think we are talking about the Republic of Ireland manager here, but Roy Keane is the assistant manager, that is the point,” Kilbane said.
“Roy Keane comes out and questions the ability of one of the players in the squad in Aiden McGeady.
“Having played alongside Roy, if any assistant manager that he played for questioned one of his team-mates or him, he would have been one of the first to go and knock on the manager's door and assistant manager's door and say what are you doing.
“I think Roy was bang out of order with what he said, particularly about Aiden. He is the assistant manager and you have got to know your role.
“Roy is supposed to be the buffer between the players and the manager and all this is going to do is alienate Roy from the players.
“Now I’m sure Roy’s not bothered, he doesn’t care. But you have to have some kind of harmony going into this tournament.

“Roy has a vital role to play as a buffer to the manager and the players, but he has just got to curb it sometimes. He can’t come out and say what he said about Aiden.”
Keane’s time in the coaching set-up with the Republic of Ireland was full of controversy, while Martin O’Neill was manager.
In 2014, the former midfielder clashed with a fan in the team hotel that led to an ambulance being called but no arrests or complaints were made.
Keane would later criticise Everton for putting pressure on the likes of Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy to pull out of international duty.
Toffees chairman Bill Kenwright refuted the claims, insisting Keane “says stupid things”, while then-manager Roberto Martinez also dismissed the situation.
The ex- Celtic star left his role, along with O’Neill, in November 2018 by mutual agreement.
