Harry Kane returned to Tottenham training on Wednesday ahead of their pre-season tour in Australia – with the striker facing crunch talks with new boss Ange Postecoglou over his future.

The 29-year-old has just one year remaining on his Spurs contract and has interest from German giants Bayern Munich – who have seen a £70million bid for the England captain rejected.

Spurs tweeted a video on Wednesday morning showing Kane arrive for his first day of training as he smiled while walking through the door at the Enfield complex, holding his kit and boots in a plastic bag.

Kane, who is reported to have held talks with Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel at his London home, is planning to tell Postecoglou he is open to all options this summer and will leave the ball in Tottenham’s court when they first meet.

Also arriving though the door was new signing James Maddison – who has arrived from Leicester for £40m – Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Ivan Perisic, Joe Rodon, Dejan Kulusevski and new boys Destiny Udogie and Manor Solomon.

TOTTENHAM’S HARRY KANE DILEMMA: SELL TO BAYERN OR TAKE A RISK AND KEEP HIM?

What do you do if you’re Levy and the powers at be on the Spurs board? With one year remaining on his contract, the negotiating power is very much with the England captain.

We know the Tottenham supremo is a shrewd operator and a notoriously difficult negotiator – so will he really allow his prized asset to walk away for free?

With that in mind, Mail Sport has weighed up the arguments for cashing in on Kane – or playing the risky game of keeping him.

Kane is in a strong negotiating position with the player able to hold pre-contractual talks with other clubs in January before having the power to walk away on a free transfer next summer and have the pick of top European sides.

Mail Sport reported on Tuesday that Spurs chief Daniel Levy is still hopeful he can persuade Kane to stay at the club by offering him a new lucrative contract.

While the player has shown no immediate indication he is willing to extend his stay, the fact the striker has no preconceived ideas with regards to his future will provide some hope to Tottenham as they look to avoid losing their prized asset for nothing.

Spurs fans will be desperate to hold on to a player who netted 30 goals under a struggling team last season as the club bid to transform under Postecoglou this season.

But with time running out for Tottenham to cash in on Kane, the club may be forced into sanctioning a permanent transfer if negotiations with Bayern continue – even though Levy is reportedly preparing to offer his star man wages of up to £400,000-a-week.

Kane and his Tottenham team-mates are due to jet out to Australia for the start of their pre-season tour – that includes Thailand and Singapore – on Friday.

Spurs are set to face West Ham, Leicester City and Roma in Asia before returning for a home friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk on August 6.

Whether Kane is still a Tottenham player before their first game of the season away at Brentford on August 13 remains to be seen.

He remains Tuchel’s top target at Bayern, who are keen to get a deal done this summer in the knowledge that they will face far more competition for his signature next year should he become a free agent.

Tuchel is believed to have already convinced Kane of the benefits of a move to Germany, where he’d likely add silverware to his already impressive CV and play in Europe – something Tottenham cannot offer him next season.

The former Chelsea boss has also said to have alleviated any concerns the England skipper may have about moving his family to a new country. Ensuring that is wife Katie, and their three children would be integrated into the wider Bayern community with schools, houses, and language support all readied for his arrival.

Kane did have strong interest from Manchester United – with Erik ten Hag seeing him as one of his top targets – but the Red Devils have since moved on after being put off by Tottenham’s valuation of £100m and are now targeting Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojland and Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani.
