‘Kane made me miss lunch by two hours to have 150 more shots – it was crazy’

Lawrence Vigouroux – who played with Harry Kane in Tottenham's youth teams – has joked he'd miss lunch because Kane wanted to take 150 shots at him.

Vigouroux never quite made the cut at Spurs, and he's currently the first-team keeper at Leyton Orient. However, he still remembers his time in north London well – especially the impression Kane left on him with his work ethic.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the shot-stopper admitted he'd be two hours late to lunch with Kane lining up shots. He said: "I could definitely see it back then. Every day he’d be out for an hour and a half, two hours, doing extra finishing which was crazy.

“Sometimes I’d be the one in goal. For two hours, I’m missing lunchtimes, because Harry wanted to get about 150 more shots in!"

Vigouroux also admitted that even then Kane was an "unbelievable" finisher even as a youngster. He added: “He was an unbelievable finisher, honestly, one of the best I’ve seen – really good guy as well, really humble, really down to earth and really wanted to improve."

Kane had initially struggled during loan spells at Orient and Leicester – but he hit the ground running in the 2014/15 season for Spurs.

Kane has netted 24 goals this season – a tally that would be respected a lot more if it wasn't for Erling Haaland netting 33 times.

And the Spurs hitman's goals have come amongst all of Spurs' struggles this season, with the Lilywhites' form nose-diving in recent months. Spurs' misery came to the fore on Sunday afternoon – when Newcastle hit them for six at St James' Park.
