Kane looks confused as country version of German anthem plays before Bayern bow

Harry Kane looked utterly perplexed as a folk rock band blasted out Germany's national anthem ahead of his Bayern Munich Bundesliga debut on Friday.

The England striker was in the starting line-up for the first time after making his initial bow for the club in their DFL-Supercup defeat to RB Leipzig last weekend.

To mark the start of the new season, Bundesliga chiefs had Berlin-based rock band The BossHoss open proceedings with a countryfied, almost Americanised, rendition of the country's national song, much to the bemusement of Kane who stared gormlessly at the D-grade pre-match pageantry as he stood next to his similarly-uninterested team-mates.

Fans on social media found the whole thing hilarious, with one suggesting the former Tottenham man might hand in a transfer request.

"Harry Kane standing there wondering what the f*** is this s***, two odd-looking Germans singing the national anthem before kick off," tweeted one person.

"Harry Kane has just put a transfer request in. A country version of the German national anthem?" wrote another, while a third said: "Well this is weird isn't it. German national anthem performed by rock band ahead of Kane's debut. And he couldn't look more bored haha."

The bizarre pre-match festivities did little to affect Kane's performance as he notched his first goal contribution for the club, an assist for Leroy Sane, inside three minutes of their opening day clash with Werder Bremen.

The centre forward latched on to a clearance from a Bremen corner before playing a deft pass through to the onrushing German winger, who stroked the ball home after selling the keeper a neat dummy while bearing down on goal.
