Kai Havertz targets strong finish with Chelsea after ‘tough season’
Kai Havertz has now settled with Chelsea
Chelsea star Kai Havertz is keen to put a “tough season” behind him and finish strong after adjusting to life in the Premier League.
The former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, who is currently with the German national team, took some time to adjust to life at Stamford Bridge.
A spell out with Covid-19 further delayed his impact on the pitch, though he has now accumulated five goals and seven assists in all competitions after a recent surge in form under compatriot Thomas Tuchel, who replaced Frank Lampard as manager in January.
“It’s been a tough season,” Havertz said after Die Mannschaft beat Romania 1-0 in Sunday’s 2022 World Cup qualifier. “I know that things haven’t been going smoothly.
“But I think that’s normal when you first go abroad. It takes half a year or longer to adjust.

“I think that things are going well right now so I don’t want to overthink those negative impressions from the past. I am positive and hope that the next weeks will be every bit as good.”
Chelsea are fourth in the league with 51 points and host West Bromwich Albion on Saturday after the international break.
