Juventus are doing everything in their power to shift Cristiano Ronaldo off their wage bill this summer and would be open to sending him to Manchester City before August 31, it has been claimed. The Portuguese megastar is undoubtedly pulling his weight on the pitch, but his extortionate salary is backing the club into a corner off it, which has left returning boss Massimiliano Allegri nowhere to go in the transfer market.
The club have been hit extremely hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, illustrated by the structure of their deal for Manuel Locatelli.
Juve have committed to a two-year loan for the Italian including a £30million obligation to buy, which ensures the club will not paying a penny until 2023.
As such, the Bianconeri have approached Man City, among a host of other clubs, to try and pitch them the idea of shelling out for Ronaldo.
Duncan Castles told The Reach PLC Transfer Window Podcast: “There is no question that Juventus would be delighted if Manchester City could be convinced to take Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Their priority is purely financially driven, they are committed to too much salary and Covid has hit them hard.
“Real Madrid have ruled themselves out, PSG have gone in another direction, Manchester United have been offered and haven’t bitten so far.
“[Juventus have said to City] ‘Here you can have a guy who excels in the Champions League for a lower cost across the duration of the contract to what you are prepared to pay for Harry Kane.’
“You can see why the proposal makes sense, particularly with [Daniel] Levy playing hardball and dragging it out.”
Indeed, the first phase of Levy’s ‘hardball’ was the £160m price-tag attached to Kane which, up to now, has stopped the deal in its tracks.
City are reportedly prepared to work all the way until deadline day to push Spurs into a compromise, as Kane continues to work his way back to match fitness after returning to pre-season later than planned.
With Spurs on the fringes of European competition in recent years, Ronaldo certainly has greater pedigree in the Champions League.
He also bettered Kane’s league tally last campaign, leaving the rest of Serie A trailing in his wake with 29.
There is little doubt that Ronaldo would be a success on the pitch at City, but the club clearly feel as though the whole package surrounding Kane is altogether more enticing.
The Blues have ventured into the new season with only one recognised senior striker in Gabriel Jesus, after Sergio Aguero left for Barcelona.
Although Pep Guardiola is comfortable deploying a false nine formation, the idea of having one option up front until the January window would perhaps be a gutsy decision too far.
As deadline day draws nearer, Juve could push once more for Ronaldo to move to the Etihad, although City currently appear to have tunnel vision pointed towards Spurs’ talisman.
