A great World Cup from United States midfielder Weston McKennie could lead to a January transfer move away from Juventus.
The Turin-based club has reportedly set a €30million price tag on the USMNT star according to Calciomercato as he is subject to interest from multiple European clubs.
McKennie’s current contract expires in 2025, but considering the current state of Juventus, the club might look to offload some players soon.
After a great World Cup with the United States, Juventus are open to selling Weston McKennie
The American midfielder appeared in eleven Serie A matches for Juventus so far this season
The 24-year old Washington-born, Texas-raised McKennie had a strong showing in Qatar for the USMNT, starting all four matches in the group stage as well as the Round of 16.
So far in Serie A this season, the box-to-box midfielder has a goal and an assist in eleven matches for I Bianconeri
With the entire Juventus board of directors resigning last week as the result of an investigation into inflated transfer values, the club could work to offset potential future penalties.
Not only that, but the club announced they had a loss of €254 million on their books back in September.
McKennie initially moved to Juventus from Bundesliga club Schalke for an €18m loan option
That financial difficulty – coupled with McKennie’s spectacular form, has led the sharks to start circling around him and Juventus. Despite the value of €30m, that report from Calciomercato suggests Juve could sell McKennie for a lower fee.
A number of Premier League clubs have shown interest in McKennie, who moved to Italy from Bundesliga club Schalke in 2020 for €18m on loan with an option to buy.
Clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Aston Villa have reported interest in him – with Spurs and the Red Devils reportedly having negotiated a deal with him last summer.
A return to Germany is not out of the realm of possibility as McKennie’s representation has reportedly spoken to Borussia Dortmund.
