Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp went “berserk” at his players during Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Leicester, according to former West Ham striker Dean Ashton. Liverpool conceded three goals in the final 12 minutes at the King Power Stadium to suffer their sixth Premier League defeat of the season.

Ashton was on co-commentary duty for the match so had a great view of Reds boss Klopp on the touchline.

Liverpool were guilty of an horrendous defensive error for Leicester’s second goal, with new signing Ozan Kabak and goalkeeper Alisson not on the same wavelength, gifting Jamie Vardy his 12th league goal of the campaign.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Ashton said he did not hear a shout from Alisson as he rushed out of his goal in an attempt to clear the ball.

“What a big, big mess up this is,” Ashton said.

“From the new man Kabak and Alisson, there’s either no communication or he doesn’t listen to his goalkeeper, they both go for the ball and the ball falls beautifully for Vardy.

“Only Alisson and Kabak are privy to who communicated what in that situation.

“We would hear something if there was a shout. There are no supporters, so we should hear Alisson from here to leave it, but we didn’t hear anything.

“This was an absolute shambles of a defensive performance in this second half, Klopp was going berserk at his players.”

Kabak joined Liverpool from Schalke in January on a six-month loan, with the option to make the deal permanent for £18million.

Ashton admits he felt sorry for the Turkey international during his first outing in English football.

And he has questioned whether the 20-year-old will play for Liverpool again.

Ashton added: “It’s great from a Leicester point of view, but from Liverpool it’s shambolic.

“It’s just madness, Liverpool have completely crumbled. No organisation, Kabak left completely isolated, it’s incredible to see the capitulation of this Liverpool side in the space of five minutes.

“Liverpool’s goal was amazing from [Roberto] Firmino and [Mohamed] Salah, but it’s going to mean absolutely nothing now. They’re shell shocked, the pace has just completely gone from Liverpool’s play.

“Defensively they are not in a good place whatsoever. It’s really going to frustrate Jurgen Klopp.

“They deserved their lead, but in the face of adversity when you concede the equaliser you’ve got to be so much better as a side to take stock, not just completely capitulate, be out of position and allow waves and waves of Leicester attacks on top of you.

“That’s really worrying, and it’s not going to get any better, they’re not getting [Virgil] Van Dijk back any time soon.

“Kabak’s your new man but will we ever see him again? It was a tough day for him. I feel for Kabak, he’s been left high and dry.

“It’s a worry when your goalkeeper is making so many mistakes, but this was a collective failure.”
