Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has appeared to confirm that there will be no more signings at the club this summer. The Reds moved quickly early in the window to capture the signing of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.

Bringing in more quality options at centre-back was the top priority for Liverpool after their injury crisis last season.

Konate will now rival Joel Matip and Joe Gomez for a starting spot alongside Virgil van Dijk.

But there has been no more activity at the club since Konate’s arrival, other than the contract extensions of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Harvey Elliott, Adrian, Caoimhin Kelleher and Alisson.

Georginio Wijnaldum’s departure as a free agent had led to some suggestions a replacement would be signed.

And there have been reports linking Liverpool with another attack-minded player to help take some of the burden off Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

However, with just a few days until the start of the new campaign and three weeks until the transfer window closes, it’s looking increasingly unlikely that any more signings will join.

Klopp appears content with the current options at his disposal, insisting no other signings are likely to be made unless players leave.

“It is summer and the transfer window is open, then everyone expects some player signings. We will see what happens,” Klopp told TV2.

DON’T MISS

“Let’s go through the squad. Do you want to buy a new fullback? A new goalkeeper? We already have good players there.

“In midfield, we have players with a lot of experience, such as Thiago, Fabinho, [Jordan] Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita. In addition, we have exciting young boys in Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones.

“In the attack, we have Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Xherdan Shaqiri, Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi.

“I’ve definitely forgotten someone… If you want to buy such players, you have to spend a lot of money. We do not have to do that, because the players are already here.

“You have to make changes from time to time, but then there must be room to do it. We do not want more players.

“If something happens somewhere, something can happen somewhere else, but it makes no sense to add more players.”

Both Shaqiri and Origi have been linked with moves away from Anfield this summer.

They’ve already recouped close to £30m from the sales of Harry Wilson, Marko Grujic and Taiwo Awoniyi.
