Jurgen Klopp sends Fabinho supportive message after heartbreaking death of dad
Liverpool's boss Jurgen Klopp has sent Fabinho a touching message during his pre-match press conference on Friday morning.
Fabinho's wife confirmed that his father, Joao Roberto Tavares, passed away via a touching message on her Twitter page.
And tributes were quick to pour in for the Brazilian midfielder from the Anfield faithful.
His manager took time out of the press conference to pay tribute to his player's father ahead of Liverpool's clash with Burnley on Saturday.
Klopp said: "It's a private situation. Fab is here and doing what he's able to do. We all feel for him and are with him."
The German boss lost his mother to Covid in February, and he was unable to attend her funeral due to Covid rules that were in place at the time.
The same rules stopped Liverpool from being able to travel to RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
Rebecca Tavares, Fabinho's wife, said: "For those who are asking on Instagram …. Fabinho’s father has passed. He will be missed."
"Father-in-law, you will always be remembered for this smile and your passion for the things of the kingdom!!"
"I thank God for the privilege of having known him."
Klopp continued: "[We] gave him and his family our condolences. We gave him all the love and warmth we have at this moment. That’s it, the rest is private."
Liverpool face Burnley in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, as Klopp's side look to continue their fast start.
