Jurgen Klopp has given his verdict on Nat Phillips’ spectacular skill during Liverpool’s 2-1 win at AC Milan. Phillips took full advantage of his first start of the season with an impressive display at the San Siro.
Milan took the lead when Alisson failed to deal with a corner and parried the ball into the path of Tomori, who was left with a simple tap in from close range.
Liverpool equalised seven minutes later after Mohamed Salah reacted quickest to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s effort.
Klopp’s side then won the match ten minutes into the second half when Saturday’s hero – Divock Origi – popped up with the winner for the second time in as many games.
However, not only did Phillips put in a noteworthy performance, but the defender became the talk of the dressing room when he cheekily produced a Cruyff turn inside his own penalty box which ultimately wrongfooted two Milan attackers.

And when asked about the incident, Klopp joked: “The situation of the game, yeah! He played an outstanding game.
“Nat with that situation.. I didn’t see it, only from distance. I’m really looking forward to seeing it for the first time!
“We spoke already in the dressing room about it. It was a tricky one!”
The result means Liverpool became the first-ever English side to win all six of their group matches in the Champions League.

Speaking of his side taking 18 points from 18, Klopp said: “I’m very proud of this achievement. When I said before the game that we chose a line-up because we wanted to win the game, everybody was like ‘hmm’.
“Well we needed today fresh legs, we needed desire to play this game which was really difficult in this hectic schedule – we have to always be on fire for the next game.
“What the boys did tonight I couldn’t be more proud, to be honest. It was an incredible game.
“I’m so happy about so many things I saw tonight. And of course, that we won the game was great as well but the performance was absolutely outstanding.
“Having 21 shots at goal, so many situations where we played outstandingly well, we defended with passion and good organisation. So many good things I saw tonight.”
Klopp’s side will now switch their focus back to the Premier League where they will play host to Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday.
The Reds are currently second in the Premier League with 34 points and are one adrift of leaders Manchester City after 15 games.
