Julio Cesar once had to apologise to Queens Park Rangers fans after wearing a Chelsea shirt to a party.

The former Brazil goalkeeper spent two years at Loftus Road between 2012 and 2014 but felt the wrath of the club's fans in April 2013 after being pictured in the shirt of their west London rivals. Cesar and his family posed in the Blues' home shirt with red and white afro wigs as they attended his international team-mate David Luiz's birthday party.

However, QPR fans soon saw their keeper in the colours of their rivals after Luiz posted a picture of him with Cesar's family on Instagram.

Although Luiz later deleted the picture, the damage had already been done as far as Rangers fans were concerned and Cesar was forced to apologise to supporters.

At the time, Cesar admitted, via the Huffington Post: “I would like to clarify that last night I attended David Luiz’s fancy dress birthday party and as a joke for my friend, my family and I dressed as him. I want to assure everyone that absolutely no offence was intended.”

Whilst his club did not comment any further on the incident, it was reported back in 2013 that Cesar was likely to be fined for his actions by QPR.

He and Luiz became friends during their time with the national team, playing alongside each other 26 times for Brazil between 2011 and 2014.

Meanwhile, Cesar was a QPR player for two seasons after being signed from Inter Milan by Mark Hughes in the summer of 2012.

The Brazilian shot-stopper went on to make 27 appearances for the club, but kept just six clean sheets and conceded 45 goals across those matches.

Following QPR's relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2012/13 season, Cesar was later sent out on loan to MLS side Toronto FC before leaving for Benfica on a free transfer in 2014.

Having retired aged 38 in 2018, Cesar will celebrate his 43rd birthday on Saturday, hoping to avoid angering any fans with his choice of attire at his own party.
