Julian Nagelsmann’s WAG drops huge hint he could become next Chelsea manager
Chelsea fans may have twigged onto a potential clue regarding the club's search for a long-term managerial successor.
More specifically, it's believed the professional future of Julian Nagelsmann's girlfriend may have given some indication as to where he could be heading. Or at least not heading, as it appears a move abroad may be closer to fruition after she reportedly ditched her new job at BMW.
Lena Wurzenberger was on the editorial team at German daily Bild when Nagelsmann landed his last job at Bayern Munich, who surprised the football masses by firing the mastermind after barely 18 months in March. It was reported his relationship with a member of the press 'lost the trust' of certain members of the dressing room and was a significant factor in the club's decision to sack Nagelsmann.

Perhaps in an effort to correct that fallout, Wurzenberger landed a job as part of the corporate communications at BMW and was due to begin her new post on April 1. However, it's since emerged Nagelsmann's partner—whom he only started dating in 2022—didn't take up the position.
It could be sheer coincidence that the former Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig tactician has been subject to increased links at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea reportedly made contact with Nagelsmann earlier in April, and the 35-year-old is now said to be 'the leading candidate' to take over from interim boss Frank Lampard.
Who would be your first choice to succeed Frank Lampard as Chelsea manager? Let us know in the comments section.
It's believed Lampard is eager to stay on as Blues for a second permanent spell after taking the reins from Graham Potter following his firing. However, it seems a lot more likely the west Londoners will target an established name to succeed the club legend in the long term.
While Wurzenberger's work situation may not be a clear indication as to Nagelsmann's plans, it could well be a hint a move away from Germany is in the offing. Nagelsmann is highly regarded as one of the youngest managerial minds in the elite circle, achieving relative success wherever he's been thus far in his young career.
The prodigious planner took Hoffenheim from the brink of relegation to successive top-four Bundesliga finishes in his first senior position. He then brought Leipzig to a Champions League semi-final and a runner-up finish in the DFB-Pokal before going on to win his maiden Bundesliga crown with Bayern in 2022.
A first taste of football outside his native Germany could be imminent, with Tottenham fans calling for him to replace the axed Antonio Conte. And just as Wurzenberger may have played a part in Nagelsmann's exit from the Allianz Arena, she may also provide a clue regarding her beau's next destination.
