Julian Nagelsmann ‘not a contender’ for Tottenham job
Tottenham are reportedly not considering Julian Nagelsmann as their new manager despite the German being heavily linked with the vacancy at the club. Spurs are still believed to be interested in Xabi Alonso with the former Liverpool midfielder’s chances boosted by the latest development.
Tottenham have been on the lookout for a new long-term manager since the club decided to part ways with Antonio Conte in March. The Italian’s assistant Cristian Stellini originally took charge in the interim but he was fired a month later with Ryan Mason stepping up again to take the team until the end of the campaign.
A number of names have been linked with the vacancy with Nagelsmann among the most prominent and he would be a popular pick with supporters. However, it appears he is no longer under consideration for the role with ESPN and others reporting that the club do not intend to take their initial interest any further.
Spurs have been linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen boss Alonso in recent weeks and the Spaniard may just have taken one step closer to the job without having to do anything in light of the Nagelsmann news.

The search is being led by chairman Daniel Levy who has been keen to consider a range of options. Current caretaker Mason is also believed to still be under consideration with the club hoping to have a permanent appointment in before the start of pre-season.
