Chelsea are not the first choice for Jules Kounde to join this summer despite agreeing personal terms with the Blues, according to reports. Kounde is claimed to have agreed a deal with Chelsea ahead of a fee being finalised with Sevilla. Thomas Tuchel is keen to add youth to his backline following the club’s Champions League success last season.
Kounde has attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe.
Manchester United are reported to have seen a bid turned down for the Frenchman earlier this summer.
Arsenal and Tottenham have also been listed as clubs interested in the 22-year-old.
But Kounde’s preference has been to join a team currently in the Champions League, something Chelsea can offer.

However, speaking on Reach PLC’s Transfer Window podcast, Duncan Castles says Kounde would prefer to join Real Madrid in this window.
Real are interested in signing the defender but are currently prioritising a deal for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.
Castles said: “Kounde’s preference should he leave Sevilla, and he’s talked about leaving this summer and being open to a move, would be Real Madrid.
“But Madrid at present are not in a frame of mind to take Kounde from Sevilla.

“Personal terms agreed for Kounde until 2026.”
Kounde has been open about leaving Sevilla in the past to join a “big club”.
In May, he said a move may be on the cards to progress his career.
“Regarding my future, it’s certain that I will perhaps have to change clubs this summer,” Kounde said.
“But nothing has been finalised yet. I have not decided anything.
“My goal is to play for a big club, to try to always progress and to win trophies. It’s true that I might have to move, but that’s not relevant today.”
