Thousands of Wrexham fans invaded the Racecourse Ground pitch as the Red Dragon’s clinched promotion back to the Football League.
The Welsh side, watched on by Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, beat Boreham Wood 3-1 to clinch promotion to League Two and win the National League championship.
As the referee blew the whistle to signal the end of Wrexham’s fifteen-year wait to re-enter the Football League, fans rushed onto the pitch in celebration at the triumph.
Players and fans celebrated together in the middle of the pitch, while Reynolds and McElhenney could be seen holding back the tears during an emotional climax to the game.
Boss Phil Parkinson could also be seen in celebratory mood in his dugout as he enjoyed the moment with his staff.

The celebrations spread across social media too, where fans took to Twitter to share in Wrexham’s promotion.
With one fun summing up an emotional evening by saying: We got to lift trophy at the racecourse under the iconic floodlights what a night, UP THE TOWN, NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS’.
A feeling that was matched by a Red Dragons fan feed and simply read: ‘HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS CLUB?!’.
The support came from both sides of the pond, as thanks to the Hollywood influence Wrexham now has a unique following from the States and one user perfectly summed up the effect the club has had on new followers of the club.
It said: ‘So excited for this football team. I played this sport for years as a young person but never became a fan of a professional team ever until I watched the series on Hulu and became a fan of them and the town. Hope to get over there some day and watch a match in person. Go Wrexham.’
Fans took to Twitter to celebrate Wrexham’s promotion back to the Football League
The Wrexham journey has been one of football’s great tales, and one user compared it to Leicester’s fairytale Premier League victory in 2016. Posting to their Twitter account: ‘best football story since Leicester won the prem. congrats to all at wrexham.’
It might be the beginning of the club’s journey, with the owners promising upon taking over in 2021 that they wanted to take Wrexham up the football pyramid. Another fan was quick to acknowledge that narrative and tweeted: ‘Just the beginning. Journey to the prem.’
Wrexham’s win over Boreham Wood saw them clinch the title ahead of Notts County with a points haul of 110 – a record in the top five tiers of English football.
Elliott Lee got the Welsh side back into the game after they went behind in the first minute, before Paul Mullin hit his 37th and 38th league goals of the season to send the Racecourse Ground into delirium.
