Jose Mourinho tells Fulham to stop whingeing and could even demand apology
Jose Mourinho has told Fulham to stop whingeing about being forced to play Tottenham at short notice.
And the Spurs boss even called on the Cottagers to APOLOGISE if they end up fielding their strongest team in tonight’s rearranged fixture.
Fulham boss Scott Parker described Monday’s decision by the Premier League to play the game as “scandalous” yesterday.
But Mourinho said: “If they come with half the team, I will be the first one to apologise to them. And I will be the first one to say we played this game with an advantage.
“If they come with their best, I think they should apologise. I think we should wait. We should see their team, their bench, the players not involved.
“And after that we can all feel sorry for them. Or we can all think that they shouldn’t speak. My feeling is they will play with everybody.
“Maybe one player out. Maximum two. It’s just a feeling I have. When we see the best Fulham, then you realise lots of things don’t make sense.”
Mourinho wasn't happy when tonight's game – originally scheduled for December 30 – was postponed on the day because of a coronavirus outbreak at Fulham.
But the teams have only been given two days’ notice to prepare for the rearranged fixture, which is being played after Tottenham’s match at Aston Villa was postponed.
Asked whether Fulham had a right to be upset, Mourinho added: “Are you serious? I had the news I was not going to play them two hours before the game started!
“We played, if I’m not wrong, 11 more matches than Fulham since the beginning of the season. Eleven. We played every week three matches a week.
“We played in one week, four matches. They played Saturday against QPR. In London. Come on, let’s play football.”
Fulham’s FA Cup clash with QPR is the only match they have played since Boxing Day, and it has not gone unnoticed at Spurs that Parker made seven changes for the game.
