Jorginho has revealed a half-time talk was behind Arsenal’s comeback win over Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Mikel Arteta’s returned to the summit of the Premier League with a 4-2 win after going behind on two occasions in Saturday’s early game.
Jorginho, who played a crucial role in helping the Gunners take the lead late on, says a half-time talk by manager Mikel Arteta inspired the improvement following a poor first 45 minutes.
‘That’s the Premier League,’ the Italian midfielder told BT Sport.
‘That’s why it’s the best league in the world. It’s just beautiful.

‘It’s a very important [win], after the last results we had and the start wasn’t easy. We were not producing our game.
‘But we came in at half-time and had a talk, and then we went back to doing the basics that we needed to do, and we changed the game.’
Arsenal went behind after just five minutes through Ollie Watkins’ goal before Bukayo Saka’s ninth league goal of the season put them on level terms.
Aston Villa took the lead again with a well-worked goal by Philippe Coutinho just after the half-hour mark.
But Arteta’s side struck three times after the break through Oleksandr Zinchenko, an own-goal by former goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and Gabriel Martinelli to clinch all three points.
Arteta concurred that a half-time talk was behind the behind the win as he praised his team for showing ‘character and resilience’.
‘We showed a lot of character and resilience to get back twice in the game and end up winning it,’ the Arsenal boss said.

‘We have to take some lessons from today because especially in the first-half we didn’t do the simple things right.
‘But we talked at half-time, (saying) “If we raise individual standards and start to deliver what they have to do, we’re going to win this game”.
‘In the second-half I think we outplayed them, we created chance after chance, we dominated absolutely the game.
‘We needed a magic moment and Jorginho produced it.
‘When you want to be at the top, you have to win in many different ways.’
