Jordan Henderson lookalike who Liverpool fans mobbed vows to meet England star

A Chelsea FC coach who has a spitting resemblance to England ace Jordan Henderson said he would love to meet the Liverpool captain.

Many people, including this Daily Star Sport reporter, found themselves needing a second look at Essex-based football coach Jack West. The 36-year-old has an extremely uncanny likeness to Henderson, who looks set to have another starting berth for the Three Lions’ crunch quarter-final clash with France.

He has the hair, he has the smile, he has the beard, and he even has the England shirt, as he is currently part of Specsavers’ band of England look-alikes that are leaving supporters questioning the quality of their eyesight.

While West, who also hails from the North East, was initially told about the resemblance when Henderson was coming through the ranks at Sunderland, the double glances and constant ‘is that Jordan Henderson’ murmurs really began to take off when the midfielder moved to Liverpool.

But while the persistent secondary glances would have been strange enough, things got even stranger when he was on holiday in Tenerife. “The strangest was four or five years ago.” West said exclusively to Daily Star Sport when asked about the strangest interaction he has had. “I was on holiday in Tenerife and I got my bearings on the first day.

“I’ve got my flip flops, my swim shorts, and my t-shirt on the beach and a group of screaming kids ran up to me and started touching my arm. I was like ‘what’s going on here!’ It was pretty strange. I think they were Spanish.

“They wanted a photo with me, and at the time, the Jordan Henderson thing didn’t enter my mind. I just thought ‘what’s going on here?’

“There was a guy with them who took the photo. At the end, they were happy, and one of them said, ‘good luck for the rest of the season, we’re all massive Liverpool fans. We all love Liverpool.

“I didn’t have the heart to tell them I wasn’t him, so I just played along with it.” West is yet to meet the Liverpool superstar, who slotted home England’s first goal in an impressive 3-0 victory over Senegal.

And West is very keen to shake hands with the box-to-box midfielder as he has already, somewhat indirectly, met Henderson’s father. “I think we should,” West replied promptly, when asked if he wants to meet Henderson.

“I think it’s only right that he agrees to meet me. Where I’m originally from in the North East, I have a friend who was at an event a few years ago.

“They bumped into Jordan Henderson’s Dad and got onto the topic of me and how someone she knows looks really like his son. She got a few photos out and he was finding it quite hilarious. I have a photo of his Dad, looking at a photo of me, showing a photo of him and Jordan on his phone.”

Hendo lookalike, Jack West, was recruited into the ‘Second Squad’ as part of Specsavers ‘Should’ve Gone to…’ nationwide campaign to support England
