Jordan Henderson was spotted filming what appeared to be a farewell message to the Liverpool fans on the Anfield pitch before heading to Saudi Arabia to link-up Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq.
Henderson is putting an end his 12-year association with the Premier League giants after making the controversial move to the Saudi Pro League – signing a three-year contract worth around £700,000-a-week.
It is thought Henderson spoke to Klopp at length about the amount of playing time he’ll get next season, and his future role in the team. He also held discussions with Gareth Southgate over how the move would impact his international future.
Shortly after those discussions, Henderson decided to sign with the Saudi Arabian side and underwent a medical in Manchester on Friday afternoon. The midfielder is now said to be waiting on paperwork for the deal to go through.
Henderson – who lifted seven major trophies including the Premier League and Champions League during his time at Liverpool – said farewell to his team-mates earlier in the week and was spotted filming a farewell message to the fans.

Henderson was seen walking around the pitch alongside the Liverpool media team. The stadium was empty as the 33-year-old lifted his phone in front of his face to take a video.
Fans were quick to react once the video was leaked on social media. Many felt that Henderson should have been afforded the opportunity to say goodbye to the Liverpool fans in person after his stellar career at the club.
One fan replied to the video saying: ‘Legend. Gonna be sad to see him go been a massive massive part of my time supporting Liverpool.’
Another wrote: ‘He has given his all to the club for the last 12 years and made beautiful memories with them. I’m sure it wasn’t easy for him to leave for Saudi and the decision must’ve been made together with his family. We should thank him for his service and wish him all the very best.’
While one said: ‘Regardless of last season he deserves a proper send off. Absoulute club legend and was key to our success in the Klopp era’.
Others praised him but felt it was the right time for him to leave. They said: ‘Been a solid captain. Never had any world class ability but was a world class athlete and exactly what we needed alongside Fabinho and Wijnaldum. He did fall off a cliff when his legs and running ability went though.’
Another agreed, saying: ‘Was time to go but this hurts….. can’t even begin to imagine the day Klopp leaves’.
