Jordan Henderson asks Jason Sancho "what are you laughing at" over England goal

Jordan Henderson admitted his first England goal has been a "long time coming" before aiming a playful dig at team-mate Jadon Sancho who was caught laughing at the comment.

Henderson came off the bench to score his first international goal and England's fourth of the night as Gareth Southgate's side demolished Ukraine 4-0 to book their spot in the semi-finals of Euro 2020.

The Liverpool captain couldn't hide his delight as he headed home Mason Mount's corner to put the quarter-final result beyond doubt.

Remarkably, it was Henderson's first England goal in his 62nd appearance for the senior side; a record not lost on the 31-year-old.

In a short clip posted on Twitter by England, Henderson is asked "Worth the wait, eh?" to which he replies: "It's been a long time coming, hasn't it? About time."

He then begins laughing, but his chuckle is interrupted by Sancho, who can be heard and seen chortling away in the background.

Turning back to look at the Manchester United-bound star, who has scored twice for England, Henderson responds: "What are you laughing at?!" to which Sancho replies: "I'm only joking!"

The good-natured encounter is typical of the team ethos that has been fostered under Gareth Southgate, and it was the theme of being a tight-knit unit that Henderson touched on after the match.

"A very good night," said Henderson after the match. "So pleased for the performance level and a great start in the early goal and we kicked on from there. We defended well as a team, scored great goals, created great chances.

"We have to be pleased with the overall performance. We have a big game Wednesday, we need to recover well and give everything on Wednesday.

"It's been a long time coming. I felt one was coming. I thankfully managed to get on the scoresheet. I'm delighted for the lads, the effort tonight was fantastic and will give us good momentum going into the next game. I tried to counter the best I can.

"On the pitch, I don't need to score more goals, there are other players to do that. I need to concentrate on my job. I would like to have scored more goals over the last few years. I managed to get one today which is always nice."
