Manchester United co-chairman Joel Glazer has promised a “new era of positive dialogue” between the club’s hierarchy and fans. United are trying to appease fans, who have repeatedly protested against the Glazer family’s ownership following the collapse of the European Super League proposals last month.
Supporters have made their feelings on the Glazers clear over recent weeks, with protests at Old Trafford forcing the Premier League game against Liverpool to be postponed after fans broke into the stadium.
Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Fulham was notable for the number of anti-Glazer placards and green and yellow scarves on display as fans were allowed inside Old Trafford for the first time in 14 months.
The controversial American owners, who bought United in 2005, have been extremely unpopular among the club’s supporters, who believe they don’t care about the team and have piled up massive debts.
Earlier this month in the wake of the failed Super League breakaway, the Manchester United Supporters Trust issued four demands to the Glazers.

MUST asked them to “willingly and openly engage and promote the government initiated fan-led review of football” and “immediately appoint independent directors to the board”.
The fan group also asked for a “share scheme that is accessible to all” to be implemented so fans have the same voting rights as the owners, who should also “commit to full consultation with season ticket holders on any significant changes”.
None of those demands have been met, but the club announced on Wednesday that Joel Glazer would participate in an online fans’ forum on June 4.
“I am looking forward to the meeting with the fans’ forum to hear their views and be part of a constructive discussion,” Glazer said in a statement.
“I firmly believe that this can open a new era of positive dialogue and co-operation between the club and the fans.”

During their 16 years in charge of United, the Glazers have generally shied away from engaging with fans – something Joel Glazer mentioned in his grovelling open letter to them last month.
“We also realise that we need to better communicate with you, our fans, because you will always be at the heart of the club,” he wrote.
“In the background, you can be sure that we will be taking the necessary steps to rebuild relationships with other stakeholders across the game, with a view to working together on solutions to the long-term challenges facing the football pyramid.”
Following the disappointing draw against Fulham, United remain second in the Premier League ahead of their final game of the season against Wolves on Sunday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, who have won just two of their last seven games, then face Villarreal in the Europa League final in Gdansk on Wednesday.
