Joel Glazer and Man Utd executives’ motive for giving Solskjaer more time
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been given three games to save his job by co-chairman Joel Glazer and the Manchester United executives after their 5-0 mauling at the hands of arch-rivals Liverpool.
The Red Devils are now winless in their last four Premier League matches and sit eight points adrift behind league leaders Chelsea in seventh place.
Reports in Italy suggest Antonio Conte has been contacted twice this week by the United board about taking the reins at Old Trafford.
The former Inter Milan boss is one of the names on their shortlist, and Daily Star Sport understands Mauricio Pochettino is still the long-term No.1 target, but there will be no imminent replacement for Solskjaer at United.
The Norwegian will be given until the November international break to prove he is still the right man for the job.
The Telegraph report that having backed Solskjaer over the past three years, the board are hesitant to wield the axe due to his success in rebuilding the side following Jose Mourinho's departure.
The report states United executives have been in consultation with co-chairman Joel Glazer due to growing concerns about recent performances.
The board are adamant they want to grant the 48-year-old more time having supported him since being appointed as caretaker manager in December 2018.
There is a desperate desire for the United boss to succeed and they have been reassured by Solskjaer's stance that he firmly believes he is up to the job.

Having backed the United boss heavily in the transfer market the board are keen to give Solskjaer the benefit of the doubt so far, but results will need to swiftly improve if he is to keep his job.
Big money was spent on the additions of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and the returning Cristiano Ronaldo with little reward thus far.
The board believe the three-game period between now and the next international break will be enough time for the Norwegian to prove his credentials before a decision needs to be made.
