Joe Willock given transfer alternative as Arsenal weigh up future of midfielder
Monaco have emerged as a potential destination for Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock this summer amid growing speculation surrounding his future.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a summer move to Newcastle United, having shone during his loan spell with Steve Bruce's side during the second half of last season.
Willock scored eight times in 14 appearances to help steer the Magpies away from relegation and became a key figure within the side.
Mikel Arteta had only provided the youngster with a handful of appearances before he headed out on loan and it's understood that the Arsenal academy graduate is considering his future as he aims for regular game time.
Newcastle are one of the sides interested in completing a deal, though RMC Sport have now claimed that Monaco have entered the race to sign Willock.
The Ligue 1 side would be able to offer the London-born midfielder the chance to play Champions League football as well as the ability to compete for title glory.
Monaco only missed out on top spot by five points last season and also finished as runners-up in the Coupe de France.
The recent arrival of Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga and contract extension of Emile Smith Rowe is likely to result in a lack of opportunities next season as the Gunners look to improve on last year's disappointing campaign.

Of the ten games he started for Arsenal last term, four of those arrived in the Europa League group stages – a competition Arteta's side will play no part in next season.
Despite growing uncertainty regarding his future, Arteta has recently insisted that he sees a pathway for Willock at the Emirates.
"Joe is part of our plans, he's our player and in the time that he is here we will try to make the most out of him," said the Arsenal boss.
"He had a great experience on loan. He was, I think one of the most important players for their survival."
