Newcastle’s ongoing hunt for a manager is in the balance after their apparent appointment of Villarreal manager Unai Emery took a turn for the worse, according to Guillem Balague. However, a deal is far from done – and an old clip featuring current Magpies and ex-Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock with Emery has shown fans what to expect should the deal go through.
Recent reports stated that Emery was all but set to become Newcastle’s new boss after their takeover on October 7.
An apparent £6m fee was to be paid to the Castellon-based side for the services of the Spaniard.
And after Villarreal’s 2-0 win over Young Boys on Tuesday, Emery announced there had been interest from the Tyneside club.
Reports emerged that he could take charge at the weekend, making the continental win his final impact.
However, that could be in the balance after his advisors were uncertain about the club’s strategy, vision and approach.
If Emery does decide to go ahead with a switch to Newcastle, an unearthed video shows exactly what the Magpies could be getting.
Willock, 22, signed for Newcastle in the summer after a superb loan spell at the club last season resulted in eight goals from just 14 games.
And with Emery supposedly on his way to Tyneside, excited fans found a video of Willock praising Emery’s passion on the touchline.
“So much passion,” the midfielder said.
“It shows how much passion the manager has for small things in the game.
“It’s not a goal, it’s not a chance, but it’s a big thing for him and it shows.”
Emery spent 18 months in the Arsenal dugout before being sacked with the club in eighth in the Premier League table.

He has since won the Europa League in his time at Villarreal, beating Manchester United on penalties in May.
The Spaniard may feel he has unfinished business in the Premier League.
And with a supposed transfer kitty of £190million, he could be tempted to leave Spain for Tyneside.
