Premier League transfer target Joao Felix has been left out of Atletico Madrid’s squad for tonight’s Copa del Rey match with Real Oviedo.
The Portugal forward has fallen out of favour at Atletico after a series of breakdowns with manager Diego Simeone. With the club backing their Argentinian boss and paving the way for Felix to exit the club.
Felix has made just ten starts this season, scoring five goals, and his availability has seen Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea all linked with making a January move for the 23-year-old.

The Gunners are in need of extra firepower following Gabriel Jesus’ knee injury he sustained for Brazil during last month’s World Cup. The Brazilian is expected to be out for up to three months, leaving Eddie Nketiah as the club’s only fit recognised striker.
In a bid to sway Felix, Thomas Partey has reportedly been in contact with his former Atletico Madrid team-mate, to persuade the Portuguese to move to the Emirates ahead of Manchester United.
Like Arsenal, United are in the market for a striker, following Cristiano Ronaldo’s controversial departure from the club and had earmarked Felix as a possible loan option this month.

However, following initial discussions the Red Devils rejected the reported £13m loan fee Atletico are demanding for Felix – on top of a further £5.3m in wages that the loan club would pay for the duration of his stay at the club.
Figures that would also prove a stumbling block for Arsenal, who were hoping to secure a similar deal for Felix as they struck with Real Madrid for Martin Odegaard in 2021.
Felix joined Atletico in 2019 for a club record fee of £113million. He has made 130 appearances and netted 34 goals, but it looks increasingly likely that his stay in the Spanish capital will come to end this month if a deal can be agreed.
