Gabriel Jesus made his long-awaited Arsenal debut on Friday in a pre-season friendly against Nurnberg, and wasted no time in getting on the scoresheet.

Jesus, who arrived from Manchester City in a deal worth £45million, was named on the bench for the game against the German second-tier side, but came on at half-time as Mikel Arteta rang in the changes and brought on some of his more senior players.

He looked lively from the start, and just 85 seconds after the second half started, he'd got himself on the scoresheet by rifling home a shot from close range which gave the opposing goalkeeper no chance.

Jesus collected the ball on the right flank and immediately ran at the defence, playing a drilled pass through to Eddie Nketiah and sprinting to collect the ball back.

From there, he jinked slightly to the right and blasted a shot into the top corner from just outside the six-yard box to open his account for the Gunners.

Jesus looked promising from the get-go in Germany, and was constantly running at the defence from wide areas or darting in behind the defence to cause problems.

And he was again rewarded for his hard work by scoring a second goal with 15 minutes to play. Jesus made a quick run towards the front post and flicked home a cross from Gabriel Martinelli to give Arsenal a 5-3 lead.

Big things are expected of Jesus, who was signed to replace the outgoing Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The striker, who played on the wing for City prior to his move to the Emirates, inked a five-year deal and instantly became the club's first-choice striker.

Arsenal are still said to be interested in Leeds United winger Raphinha, but it seems Jesus is more than capable of leading the line for Arteta's side.
