Jesse Lingard cut from Man Utd’s core squad as Amad Diallo decision made

Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard faces a difficult future at Old Trafford after being cut from the club’s core 22-man squad list, according to reports.

Lingard has barely featured this season after struggling in recent years, and has only played three times – twice in the Carabao Cup and once in the FA Cup.

There had been reports suggesting he would be sold last summer, but he opted to stay put despite speculation over his future.

And now, he faces another setback, with the Manchester Evening News claiming he’s been cut from the club’s core squad list.

New signing Amad Diallo will take his place, having impressed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in training.

The winger only joined United this month having been signed on transfer deadline day, and is yet to feature in any competition.

But it seems he could be about to get his chance, as he is able to make his debut whenever Solskjaer feels the time is right.

For Lingard, he has a host of teams interested in his services.

The same report from the Manchester Evening News claims Solskjaer and Shefield United boss Chris Wilder discussed the potential of a loan move to Bramall Lane last month.

The Blades are currently in a tight relegation fight, and currently face a near-impossible task if they want to stay up.

They’ve won just once this season in the league, and have just five points so far.

But Wilder apparently wants him to have a big role in their fight against the drop due to his experience at the top level, having played in numerous Champions League campaigns and the 2018 World Cup.

Newcastle United and Tottenham have both been linked with moves for Lingard, but he is set to sit tight and hope for a concrete offer to come along.

Any interested teams have until February 1st to get a deal over the line.
