Jeff Stelling keeps promise to wear pink trousers on Sky with fans in bits
Jeff Stelling sported a pair of very tight pink trousers as a showing of “solidarity” to fellow Sky Sports colleague Michelle Owen.
On a day of high profile presenters showing solidarity with chastised television colleagues, Stelling’s demonstration may be the most spectacular in English football this week. Owen was recently criticised by a fan on social media, who took exception to the pink trousers she was wearing while on air earlier in the week.
In response to the harsh tweet, which was deleted soon after it was posted, Stelling chose to offer his colleague his support during his recent shift on the iconic football results program. It’s safe to say, fans will not be forgetting it in a hurry.

“Talking about the EFL, I just want to talk about something that happened midweek,” Stelling said before standing up and lifting his blazer up for the big reveal. “My friend and colleague Michelle Owen, was presenting EFL Football coverage and she was criticised by somebody on Twitter, in part, because of the clothing she was wearing.
“She was wearing some pink trackie-bottoms which looked absolutely fantastic. But unfortunately, the tweeter, who swiftly deleted the tweet by the way, was suggesting otherwise.

“I have to tell you, that I vowed at the time, I would show solidarity with Michelle Owen. So Michelle, I am showing solidarity today because, there they go. What do you think guys? Pretty in pink?”
Considering the evident tightness of his funky trousers, his employers may do well to recommend a larger size or two. Nevertheless, despite the eye-full viewers received, the football world adored his showing of solidarity. “Brilliant Jeff,” one very grateful fan wrote on social media. “Jeff Stelling is becoming a national treasure,” another added.
“We love Jeff,” tweeted a very passionate Manchester United supporter, before one other fan heralded him as the “real king of football presenters.”
Other supporters and lovers of Sky Sports Soccer Saturday also said he was an “irreplaceable” asset to the team while another fan simply wrote “legend”.
