Jeff Stelling hides his face after moving montage in Sky Sports farewell
Jeff Stelling pulled up a mask of his own face to hide his immediate reaction to a stirring montage Sky Sports aired on his final Soccer Saturday show. Stelling announced earlier this year that he would be stepping down as the face of Sky Sport’s flagship live football programme after nearly three decades at the helm.
The 68-year-old became a staple part of life for football fans up and down the country for his incredible statistical knowledge and friendly nature on screen with the likes of Paul Merson, Chris Kamara, Charlie Nicholas and many others over the years. But the final day of this year’s Premier League season marked the award-winning presenter’s final show on Sky’s flagship football programme.
Sky marked the occasion with an emotional montage looking back at some of the biggest highlights from Stelling’s time with the channel. The six-minute-long clip featured tributes from some of his former and current colleagues, including a touching tribute from Kamara.
“Simply the best broadcaster ever,” he said. “I love you like a brother.
“The only last thing to say is you are unbelievable Jeff.”
