Rodgers said the striker, who has scored 11 goals this season, has been ‘champing at the bit’ to return. Rodgers insisted Vardy, 35, had not been rushed back.
‘It’s always a challenge,’ Rodgers admitted. ‘It’s got to be right. But seeing the work he’s done in training and with the medical team, he’s ready to play some part if not all.’
On Vardy’s influence behind closed doors, Rodgers said: ‘He has a wonderful energy. It’s that level of what you bring on to the pitch. The top players, in the nicest possible way, they don’t have a care — they will tackle you, be aggressive, and not worry so much about how you feel.’
