Jamie Redknapp has the perfect reaction as Man Utd fans sing abusive song on TV
Jamie Redknapp was left red-faced after Manchester United fans aimed an X-rated chant at the Sky Sports pundit during the Red Devils’ Premier League clash with Chelsea. The former Liverpool midfielder was serenaded with a sweary song by the fans inside Old Trafford.
United fans were in a good mood having just seen their side take a 2-0 lead against the Blues. As Sky’s coverage cut back to the half-time pundits, United fans could clearly be heard chanting: “Jamie Redknapp is a w*****, is a w*****!”
The 49-year-old appeared red-faced but was able to laugh through the song. As presenter Kelly Cates spoke to the other pundits, Redknapp could be seen turning back towards the Red Devils supporters and giving them a smile.
Chelsea are managed by Redknapp’s cousin, Frank Lampard. And fans were seemingly poking fun at the ex-England star’s woes as the West Londoners headed to yet another defeat.
United had scored their second goal just minutes before half-time, with Anthony Martial tapping home Jadon Sancho’s unselfish pass from six yards. Redknapp was able to ignore the chants to provide analysis on the goal.
He said: “Again, Casemiro heavily involved, beautiful play with a no-look pass here. Jadon Sancho’s movement is brilliant here but Lewis Hall, doesn’t do well enough.
“He just gets bamboozled by his movement. Jadon Sancho checks inside him, brilliant ball, you can see he’s onside and he just plays it across. Lovely calm ball, there you go mate, you go and get the goal.”
