Jamie Redknapp delivers ‘biggest pundit violation ever’ on Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Jamie Redknapp delivered the "biggest pundit violation of a player ever" as he criticised Manchester United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka's defending against Arsenal.

Wan-Bissaka first lost the ball and then lost his man as Eddie Nketiah nipped round behind him to head home an equaliser and make it 1-1 in the first half at the Emirates. His poor awareness earned him a grilling from the Sky Sports panel at the break.

Redknapp's analysis was particularly scathing as he said: "The ball's not his friend anyway." Viewers couldn't quite believe what they'd heard and reacted online.

One tweeted: "Jamie Redknapp just said 'the ball's not his friend' about Wan-Bissaka. Nuahhhhh that’s killed me, rude!" A second echoed: "Jamie Redknapp is RUDE. How can you say the ball isn't his friend to Wan-Bissaka, a professional footballer looool."

"That might be the biggest violation of a football player I've heard from a pundit," claimed one, while another added: "Nah he’s taking the mick."

One commented: "Jamie Redknapp is out of order." And one argued: "Saying 'the ball’s not his friend' about a footballer is f***ing mockery."

Was Redknapp too harsh on Wan-Bissaka? Let us know in the comments section.

Redknapp had said: "I struggle with this one, where you’ve got an outfield player giving it back to the goalkeeper. He passes it out to the right back, Wan-Bissaka – the ball’s not his friend anyway, he doesn’t want it in that situation.

"They press him really well, Arsenal, they get the ball back and that’s where they get that little bit of success.

"It’s self-inflicted, they win the corner and then obviously they get the goal from that, but it was good pressure and a lovely piece of play from Arsenal after that."
