Jamie Carragher aims dig at Jose Mourinho with analysis of ‘brave’ Man Utd

Jamie Carragher has aimed a dig at Jose Mourinho while praising the intent of Manchester United during their goalless draw against Chelsea on Sunday.

United have now drawn 0-0 on five separate occasions against other members of the traditional big six so far this season, scoring only once from the spot across all seven fixtures.

While discussing the lack of success in those matches under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the former Liverpool defender has compared the performances to those under Mourinho between 2016 and 2018.

On Monday Night Football, Carragher said: ”Well listen, if someone like Jose Mourinho had those results…

“We were very critical of him on this show as a Manchester United manager. When we talk about going for it, I think there's a difference between what you do with the ball and what you do off the ball.

"And when we criticised Jose in the past, it was almost like when they didn't have the ball, it was a back six. It was really deep.

“I think this was one of the bravest and most on the front foot I've seen Manchester United without the ball. I thought they were very brave in this game.

"I thought they were very brave on the front foot, pressing, man to man all over the pitch.

“But in that final third, they just didn't have that quality."

Solskjaer insisted after the match that his side should’ve been awarded a penalty, having said earlier in the week that the Premier League title race is not yet over.

He said: "I am never going to say it's done until it's done.

“We have seen so many examples of teams that have hung in there, have kept working and have kept doing their own jobs.
