James opens up Fernandes dressing room exchanges and off-pitch exploits
Manchester United ace Daniel James has given some insight into how Bruno Fernandes works after admitting he must get on his wavelength.
The Portugal international has been a revelation for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side as they look to push Manchester City all the way in the Premier League title race.
Fernandes has scored 22 times and grabbed 13 assists in all competitions and his general effect on the squad has been gigantic.
As United prepare to face Real Sociedad, the midfielder could be given a well-earned rest after scoring twice against them in the first leg.
His impact basically saw the tie finished there and then and it is not the first time the 26-year-old has proved pivotal.
James is one player on the fringes at Old Trafford but has enjoyed a spell in the team with fine displays against Newcastle and Sociedad.
But the Welshman knows that he must strike up a relationship with Fernandes if he wants to be successful at the club.
He also explained how the former Sporting Lisbon star has had a massive impact in the dressing room.
“Bruno has been unbelievable since he’s come in and not just on the pitch, but off the pitch as well,” James told the club’s official website.
“He’s a real character and he’s brought a lot to the changing room.
"You can see he’s brought a lot to the pitch.
“We do speak a lot because I need to be on the same wavelength as him and, if I can know what he’s going to do before he does it, then it’s going to help both of us.
“I think in a game, there are times when he’s not even looked at you and you know that he’s seen your first five (yard runs).
“I’ve seen so many of those balls this season. It’s just great to play with him and, hopefully, I can keep having a great connection with him.”
James also commented on critics that insisted Fernandes has a bad first touch, rubbishing such claims.
