Manchester United have agreed an £80million deal with Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho and the England international’s arrival could spell bad news for Anthony Martial. United are finally close to landing Sancho and the transfer is set to send shockwaves rippling through Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
Sancho was a target for United last summer, but after prolonged interest the club ultimately refused to meet Dortmund’s £110m asking price.
They returned this summer to try and complete a move for the 21-year-old and it seems as though they are finally going to get their wish.
Dortmund have dropped their asking price significantly, due in part to the coronavirus pandemic, paving the way for Sancho’s return to England.
According to The Mirror, United have now agreed to pay the German club an initial fee of £75m, plus an extra £5m in add-ons.
United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and his Dortmund counterpart Hans Joachim-Watzke have been discussing the deal over the past few weeks and have now agreed a deal in principle.

The report says ‘a deal is all but done’ and Sancho will become a United player after Euro 2020, where he is a part of Gareth Southgate’s squad.
That is good news for Solskjaer, who made Sancho his number one target this summer, but bad news for Martial.
The Mirror says the Frenchman is ‘expected to be the major casualty of the deal’ and will be sold to make space in the squad for Sancho.
Tottenham are reportedly interested in the 25-year-old, who is currently enjoying a break having failed to make the France squad for Euro 2020.
Martial struggled for fitness last season and contributed just seven goals and four assists in 36 appearances across all competitions for United.

According to ESPN, enquiries made by agents and intermediaries over the availability of Martial and Donny van de Beek have been met with a response from the club that ‘every player has a realistic valuation’.
Martial spent the last few months of the season on the sidelines with a knee injury but is under contract until June 2024, while United also have the option to extend his deal by another year.
He is far from the only player under threat. Diogo Dalot and Andreas Pereira, who spent last season on loan with AC Milan and Lazio respectively, could leave again.
A decision is yet to be made on Jesse Lingard’s future, while Axel Tuanzebe could leave on loan for the 2021/22 campaign.
