Jadon Sancho deleted old tweet shortly before Man Utd confirmed transfer deal
Jadon Sancho was hoping that Manchester United fans might've missed his 2016 tweet that celebrated his time at Manchester City following an agreement in principal with Borussia Dortmund.
The England winger, who has struggled for minutes under Gareth Southgate as England progress through Euro 2020, chose to leave the Etihad in 2017 to further his career in Germany.
Having been handed their No. 7 shirt, the young Londoner scored 50 goals and laid on 64 assists across a total of 137 appearances, twice being named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season.
While he has now put both blue and yellow behind him for the red of Old Trafford, his past remains there for all to see having spent two years with City after leaving Watford.
The tweet, which showed Sancho celebrating a goal while playing for City's youth team in 2016, included the caption: "Football is blue!" Which is not a sentiment he will still agree with.
The short statement on the agreement with Borussia Dortmund reads: "Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Jadon Sancho.
"The signing is subject to contractual terms and a medical, which will be completed after Jadon’s involvement in the UEFA European Championship."
While Sancho has not taken part in as many interviews as some of his team-mates during the ongoing international competition, he was asked about transfer rumours last month.

“I’m cool about it,” he said in an interview with talkSPORT.
“There’s always going to be speculation, especially when you do well.
“It’s just how you handle that on the pitch. You’ve got to keep doing what you’re doing, if you keep on doing that then I’m sure that won’t be a problem.
“The main thing is my football and that’s what I’m focusing on at the moment.”
Adding: “During the season, I always focus on myself and the team because that’s the most important thing you can do.
“Every time I’m on the pitch I always give it my all and I try to curate what I do on the pitch and that’s with goals and assists. That’s what I try to do and to work hard for the team.
“Of course, all the boys have a lot of questions. I feel that’s with a lot of players because we’re all such great, young talents.
“When you do well, speculation is always going to come around. I just tell the boys, ‘look, I’m just focusing on football at the moment’ and we’ll just focus on the Euros.”
