Jack Wilshere admits Arsenal’s fastest star can beat Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has admitted he was shocked to find that Scottish defender Kieran Tierney was the fastest player at the club.

Wilshere is back at Arsenal participating in training in an attempt to keep his fitness levels up after leaving Bournemouth over the summer.

The 29-year-old was also forced to deny claims that he was considering retirement as he started his coaching badges.

Arsenal have undergone major changes since Wilshere left in 2018.

And the former Gunners star was left shocked when he discovered that renowned speedster Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang wasn't the fastest player in the Arsenal squad.

"We were doing a sprint test today, and I asked the fitness guy ‘who is the fastest player, is it Aubameyang’ and he said ‘no it’s Kieran Tierney’ – it surprised me," football.london report Wilshere quipped.

And STATSports report that Tierney has reached speeds of 23mph in training after Wilshere revealed the surprising fact.

That speed would place Tierney as the quickest player in the league should he reach it in a league fixture.

Southampton's Adam Armstrong was clocked as the quickest player in the league last season, clocking in at 22.15mph.
