Jack Grealish surprises ‘annoyed’ Oleksandr Zinchenko with Wembley antics

Jack Grealish stunned Oleksandr Zinchenko with a hefty push during the Community Shield.

Arsenal defender Zinchenko was enjoying a chat with his former teammate and Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson as the two sides emerged from the tunnel after half-time.

The Ukrainian, who didn’t play in the Gunners’ 4-1 penalty shootout win on Sunday, was in a cheerful mood before City’s record signing Jack Grealish gave him a forceful shove from behind mid-conversation.

Zinchenko was momentarily taken aback before squaring up to Grealish, whose snickering revealed it was intended as a joke. The full-back appeared to feign irritation and pushed the Englishman back in return, with his facial expression suggesting it was all done in jest.

One Manchester City fan account on Twitter appeared to not get the memo, however, tweeting: “Zinchenko actually got mad while Jack Grealish was joking around.”

But they were met with disagreeing fans of both Arsenal and City, who tweeted: “You guys must not get out much, Zinchenko is obviously joking back.”

Another replied: “That’s their thing. Just stop it,” while a third added: “If you think that's being mad. You’ve never messed around with friends before and I feel kinda sad for you. Embarrassing.”

The exchange between Zinchenko and Grealish was similar to the one at the end of Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat at the Etihad last season. On that occasion, Zinchenko appeared to lose his cool while being surrounded by the likes of Kyle Walker and Ilkay Gundogan, who taunted him over the loss.

The Ukrainian’s apparent irritation, having been restrained by City’s Joao Cancelo and Grealish, led some to believe the tussle was serious.

Shedding light on the apparent scuffle, Zinchenko told Vbet News in February: "I still keep in touch with most of them; we are friends and always will be. Yeah, they won that match, and they were joking with me. But I hope we will get revenge."
