Jack Grealish says Bernardo Silva ‘looks homeless’ as Man City ace leads chant

Jack Grealish poked fun at Bernardo Silva by telling the Portuguese maestro that he looked ‘homeless’ as Manchester City’s players celebrated their historic treble in the city on Monday evening. The newly-crowned European kings sealed their monumental achievement by beating Inter Milan in the Champions League final over the weekend, which followed their recent triumphs in the Premier League and the FA Cup.

An open-top bus parade was planned for Monday evening to allow City fans to celebrate with their heroes in Manchester, with thousands of people lining the streets to catch a glimpse of the greatest team in the club’s long history. The parade was initially scheduled to begin at 6.30pm but was delayed by 30 minutes until 7.00pm due to the threat of bad weather.

Grealish was captured on video speaking in front of his fellow City players at an on-stage event earlier on Monday and was quick to aim a friendly dig at Silva, who the former Aston Villa man has struck up a close relationship with during his time at the Etihad Stadium.

“Listen, honestly, there’s one person in this team that I absolutely adore,” began Grealish. “And he looks homeless! His name is Bernardo Silva. So can we just sing one song for him, please?”

Grealish then wheeled out a large speaker and began to lead the room in chanting Silva’s name as a number of fans in attendnce joined in with the festivities. It marked the second time in as many years that Grealish had publicly dug out Silva, who he famously claimed was ‘miles off it’ when City wrapped up last season’s Premier League title with a final-day victory over Aston Villa.

He said: “I said earlier on the coach, it’s been brilliant to win my first title. I want to thank everyone, but the main person I want to thank is Bernardo Silva for coming off in the 70th minute because he was miles off it yesterday.”
