Ivan Toney injury update ahead of Brentford's clash against Liverpool

Ivan Toney is in contention to face Liverpool today, despite being stretchered off in Brentford’s win against West Ham just three days ago.

The 26-year-old was carried off the pitch after injuring his knee in the 2-0 win at the London Stadium on Friday.

Toney had scored earlier in the game, which was his 12th goal of the season so far this term.

Only Harry Kane and Erling Haaland have scored more goals than Toney so far this season and he’s been a vital part of the club’s fine start to the season, with the Bees sitting in 10th.

But, after being stretchered off, it was assumed that Toney would miss the game against a resurgent Liverpool.

However, Thomas Frank says Toney could feature against the Reds after scans showed no significant damage to the forward’s knee.

‘It’s good news,’ said Frank. ‘

There’s nothing wrong with his knee. He could potentially be available for tomorrow.’

Cody Gakpo has been added to Liverpool’s squad following his £37m arrival from PSV Eindhoven.

However, the Dutchman will not make his debut in north-west London as Jurgen Kloppp wants to give the forward time to settle at Anfield.
