Ivan Toney admits he is ‘Liverpool boy at heart’ – but also likes Arsenal
Suspended Brentford star Ivan Toney has said he's "a Liverpool boy at heart" and also expressed an admiration for Arsenal.
Toney, who won't return to Premier League action until January due to his eight-month gambling ban, has spoken out publicly for the first time since being punished by the FA earlier this year.
Appearing on Steven Bartlett's The Diary of a CEO podcast, the 27-year-old addressed a whole host of different topics – including what's next for him when he gets back out on the pitch.
He admitted he wants to play for "a big club" and be "fighting for trophies" before speaking about his personal allegiances. Toney told Bartlett: "I've been a Liverpool fan my whole life but from young I've liked Arsenal.

"I've liked watching Arsenal. From how they play, kinda how passionate the fans are. But yeah, [I'm] a Liverpool fan, a Liverpool boy at heart."
Bartlett had asked about the transfer speculation surrounding him in the media before he plead guilty to 232 breaches of the FA's betting rules. Toney said: "I don’t let this all effect me, obviously it’s all going on in the background.
Where could you see Toney realistically moving to? Let us know in the comments section.
"My job is to just keep training well, when I get the chance in the games to keep scoring and doing well but I think everybody wants to play at the top of the tree.
"And not that Brentford aren’t there, but I feel like playing for a big club, fighting for trophies and these kind of things, everyone wants to do.
"If the chance was to come along, obviously not to look more into it, I feel like yeah – and the manager knows I wanna be playing at the highest level possible – and whenever that time comes then so be it.
"My time at Brentford’s been good, been probably one of my best times in my career. I’d like the next club I go to, if I was to move, to be the right club."
Red Devils supporter Bartlett then joked: "Anything about Manchester United, Ivan?" Toney replied: "I liked [Dimitar] Berbatov when he was there, I liked watching United a lot when Berbatov was there.
"We do actually need a striker so I've got a contract here that Erik and Richard Arnold have given me," added Bartlett, prompting laughter from Toney.
