Italy legend Antonio Cassano names five best players ever – and snubs Ronaldo

Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo is not considered one of the greatest players of all time according to Italy legend Antonio Cassano.

With three Premier League titles, five Champions League trophies, and a European Championship, Ronaldo is undoubtedly a generational talent.

The 36-year-old also stands outright as the greatest ever goalscorer in international football and in the Champions League.

Having recently returned to Manchester United, the Portuguese legend has bagged five goals in seven starts this season including a brace on his Old Trafford homecoming.

But for former Real Madrid and AC Milan striker Cassano, Ronaldo shouldn't be anywhere near the conversation as one of the world's greatest ever players.

Speaking on Christian Vieiri's Twitch channel, Bobo TV, Cassano listed a quintet of players he considered greater than the Man Utd forward.

He said: "Enough theatre. Is Cristiano Ronaldo the best in the history of football? He is not even in the top five.

"For me, [Lionel] Messi, Pele, [Diego] Maradona, [Johan] Cruyff, and Ronaldo [Nazario] are on another level."

It's not the first time the Italian has taken issue with Ronaldo, labelling him a "failure" during his time at Juventus.

"Juventus signed him to win the Champions League, but they've done worse with him than they've done before," said Cassano, as reported in Corriere dello Sport.

"They'd also won the Scudetto [Serie A title] without him. I think he's been a failure."
