Inside Michael Owen’s £4million Welsh mansion he bought before leaving Liverpool

England legend Michael Owen has opened his doors to the world as he shows off his £4m mansion situated in north Wales.

Owen moved into the glorious family home with childhood sweetheart Louise Owen, formerly Bonsall, in 2001, but the player then made the switch to a hotter climate as he was whisked away to sunny Spain to play for Real Madrid.

Owen scored 13 in 36 appearances for Madrid but his time at the La Liga club was cut short due to his poor run of form, he then moved to Newcastle after one season and enjoyed four successful years in Tyneside.

The former Liverpool forward showed off his stunning gaff in the very first episode of Through The Keyhole on ITV, hosted by comedian Keith Lemon.

Although Lemon was permitted from rummaging around Owen’s bedrooms, he was allowed to roam around all the main living areas – and the Owen family are certainly ‘living’.

The house has an entire gym and leisure complex of its very own. There is a pool with a tropical water feature, a jacuzzi, a spa area and even a solarium!

And if that wasn’t enough space dedicated to keeping everyone amused, the Flintshire-based mansion also has a games room. The space has a pool table, plenty of space to sit and chat, and a display of some of Owen’s prestigious memorabilia.

The 41-year-old has since turned his attention to punditry since retiring in 2013, though he is also heavily involved in another sport too.

Manor House Stables is a horseracing stable based in Cheshire that is co-owned by Michael and Louise.

Successful trainer Tom Dascombe currently operates from the facilities and he has had several runners at the prestigious Ebor Festival at York this week. He and Owen certainly enjoyed the first day of the meeting on Wednesday as their runner, Flaming Rib, won at odds of 16/1 under a strong ride from young jockey Pierre-Louis Jamin.

Owen has equestrian facilities on his 42-acres of land, as well as a putting green, a children’s play area and a home cinema built inside the house.

When it comes to house goals, this stunning home is certainly up there.
